One of the rarer tanks to see service with the Wehrmacht in WWII was the Neubaufahrzeug, which is German for New Construction Vehicle. Just five of these heavy and cumbersome medium tanks were produced, each of which featured three turrets. The tanks primary use was in propaganda, although three constructed out of armored steel did participate in the invasion of Norway in 1940 with Panzer Abteilung z.b.V. 40. Dragon are now offering a sublime 1/35 scale plastic kit of Neubaufahrzeug Nr.2, which features the rounded Rheinmetall-Borsig turret with vertical gun mount. The model features all the correct parts for this developmental tank, including the three turrets and their armaments. The main turret correctly features the 7.5cm KwK L/24 and 3.7cm KwK L/45 guns mounted one above the other. These turrets can rotate, plus there is a selection of photo-etched parts available to add a touch of finesse. The kit is beautifully engineered, allowing modelers to recreate this rare white elephant tank that holds a unique place in the history of German armored warfare.
