On Road RC Cars

On Road Tamiya RC Cars are designed to be run on smooth surfaces, such as Tarmac outdoors, or hard, smooth surfaces (where space allows) indoors. They tend to mimic 1:1 vehicles and fall into two categories

The first are RTR (Ready To Run) or Self Build Kit Versions of fully licensed Replicas, and all the biggest names in motorsport history have at one time or another been realised as an Tamiya RC car. Step into the shoes of your favourite F1 driver, become the fastest around the track in the latest Factory Le Mans car, or strap yourself in behind the wheel of a Classic Detroit Muscle Car and set a new quarter mile record. But it's not all about going fast, there are also Drift Cars based on Japanese Imports that offer another more sideways angle into Tamiya RC Cars. Throttle finesse and control are the keywords in their world.

The second type of On Road Tamiya RC Car tend to be Race Kits. they have body shells that while they represent a type or brand of car, tend to be less realistic and are more designed to offer on track performance, better aerodynamics and even additional grip and downforce. You choose the spec of the electrics, you build and set up the chassis and you paint and detail the body yourself. These Performance On Road Tamiya RC Cars tend to be run at local cubs and with the help and support of like minded people.

Off Road RC Cars

Off Road Tamiya RC Cars can be run in far more places. Their versatility has made them by far the biggest sector in the Tamiya RC Car market and again they tend to fall into two distinct categories

The first are RTR (Ready To Run) or Self Build Kit Versions of fully licensed Replicas. They could be a Rally Car, a big name Scale 4x4 Rig, a Short Course, Pre-Runner or Trophy Truck or an Ultra 4 Rig capable of both High Speeds and Rock Crawling. Off Road RC opens up so many more possibilities and allow you to run them in far more places. Simply charge or add fuel to a RTR and go and have some fun Off Road. Or build a Kit your own way, choosing the spec of the additional components yourself, be as mild or extreme as you want, as simple or detailed as you feel.

The second type of Off Road Tamiya RC Cars tend to be Race Kits, and just like their On Road cousins are more designed to offer on track performance, better aerodynamics and even additional grip and downforce. You choose the spec of the electrics, you build and set up the chassis, and you paint and detail the body yourself. These performance Off Road Tamiya RC Cars tend to be run at local cubs and with the help and support of like minded people.
